Common questions

The answers below describe the app exactly as it works today. If yours is not here, write to us.

How do I change my child’s age range?

The first time the app opens, RG asks “Who’s drawing today?” and shows three cards: Ages 3-5, Ages 6-7 and Ages 8 and up. Tap a card once to hear about it and tap it again to choose it. To change it later, tap the gear in the top-right corner of the main screen, tap For Grown-ups, answer the grown-up question, and pick a new range under Word cards. Until a range is chosen the app uses Ages 6-7.

What is Calm Mode?

Calm Mode is on when the app is first installed. It keeps motion gentle, sound soft and colours muted: animations move more slowly, tap sounds are quieter, colours are less saturated and screen changes are shorter. To turn it off or on, tap the gear in the top-right corner of the main screen and use the switch labelled Calm Mode.

The letter prompts or songs aren’t playing.

Turn the volume up with the buttons on the side of the device, and make sure it is not in silent mode. The letter prompts and songs follow the device volume only; the Voice and Volume controls in Settings change RG’s voice and the tap sounds on the main screen, not the letters. If there is still no sound, close the app fully and open it again.

Does the app need an internet connection?

No. Everything the app needs is installed with it, and it works the same with Wi-Fi and mobile data switched off.

Does it cost anything, or contain purchases?

No. All 26 letters and everything else in the app are free, and there is nothing to buy inside it. There are no advertisements and no subscriptions.

What information does the app collect?

None. There are no accounts, no analytics and no advertising, and the app does not send anything anywhere. The privacy policy explains this in full.

How do I remove my child’s progress?

The app does not keep a record of which letters your child has traced; each visit starts fresh. The only things it remembers are your settings: the age range, Calm Mode, voice, subtitles and volume. Deleting the app removes all of them. Nothing is stored anywhere else.
